Trades and Pain project

People working in trades

People working in the trades are the backbone of our communities, yet many feel alone in their experience of living with pain. While one in five Canadians live with chronic pain, more than half of all workers in the trades experience it, and more than 75% of construction trades workers have experienced ongoing musculoskeletal pain. Chronic pain is a direct threat to well-being, significantly increasing risk for substance use and mental health challenges, and taking a significant toll on individuals, families, communities, and the economy. Yet, getting effective care and support can be particularly difficult for workers in the trades.

Trades and Pain (TAP) project: Improving pain prevention and management for workers in the trades

At Pain BC, we believe no one should be alone with pain. Thats why our Trades and Pain (TAP) project aims to partner on solutions for preventing and managing chronic pain. We’re partnering with workers, industry, employers and unions to develop pain-related resources and programs tailored for people who work in the trades.
