Over six million Canadians live with chronic pain. For many, the pain is so severe that their lives may sink into depression and suicidal thoughts can become a regular occurrence. One of the struggles that those with chronic pain face is finding suitable doctors and treatment.
The BC Medical Quality Initiative is now reviewing their guidelines on pain injection treatments. Their proposed rules would require a high level of certification for non-hospital practitioners. Maria Hudspith, Pain BC Executive Director, speaks on the Roy Green Show about how these proposed regulations, if approved, will greatly reduce the number of doctors working to administer treatment in local clinics.
