Chronic Pain After Surgery: Predictive Factors and Prevention Strategies

The risk factors for development of chronic pain after surgery are wide ranging and include nerve injury, severe preoperative and acute postoperative pain as well as psychosocial factors such as catastrophizing. Understandably, this has led to increasing interest not only in identifying these risk factors, but also in developing prevention strategies.
