What is the Pain Support Line?
We know your pain is real. The Pain Support Line offers free information, emotional support and resource assistance to empower people living with pain and their loved ones to improve well-being and advocate for themselves. Connect one-on-one with a trained staff member by email or phone.
Hours of operation
Pain Support Line staff return calls Monday through Friday from 9:00AM-4:00PM, excluding statutory holidays.
Please note our response time will be between one to three business days.
How can the Pain Support Line help me?
Pain Support Line staff can help you by providing:
- A safe and confidential space to talk about pain and its impacts on your life
- Information on community resources
- Information about pain and self-management
- Information about Pain BC resources and programs
- A referral to another Pain BC program (e.g. Coaching for Health)
If we can’t help you directly, we'll try our best to share community resources with you that could help.
The Pain Support Line can connect you with:
- Emotional support
- Information about pain clinics
- Resources to help you find a family physician, physiotherapist, chiropractor, psychologist/counsellor or other medical professional
- Housing information
- Mobility/adaptive equipment
- Transportation resources
- Home care
- Workplace accommodations
- Finding legal/advocacy support
- Information on applying for income assistance
- Employment resources
- Food security supports
- Help managing anxiety, depression or stress
- Help managing relationships
- Social supports
- Inclusive recreation
- Resources for communicating with a physician or other health care providers
- Caregiver support
- Health care navigation support

Who can call the Pain Support Line?
The Pain Support Line is free to access and intended for:
- Residents of British Columbia who live with chronic pain, or pain that persists for longer than three months
- Family, caregivers and loved ones of a person living with chronic pain
- Health care providers and organizations looking for information on how to support a patient or client with chronic pain
How do I access the Pain Support Line?
There are two ways to connect with us:
When leaving a voicemail, we encourage you to:
- Tell us your name, phone number and the best days/times to reach you
- If you’re comfortable, provide some details on how we can help
- Kindly speak slowly and clearly
How often can I contact the Pain Support Line?
Some individuals only need to contact us once to get the support they need. If you have additional needs related to pain in the future, you are welcome to call the line again. We welcome both new and returning clients who have pain-related concerns. If your concerns are not pain-related, we will do our best to refer you to another service.
The Pain Support Line is not a crisis line
If you require immediate medical assistance call 911. If you are in distress, or feel you may cause harm to yourself or others, these crisis lines can provide immediate assistance.
